THE RHODESIA MEDAL

Obverse: A Crowned Effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right and surrounded by the legend "ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA FID.DE.".

Reverse: The figure of an antelope, with the legend "THE RHODESIA MEDAL 1980".

Size: 36mm in diameter.

Ribbon: 32mm wide. Light blue, with three 3mm stripes in the centre of, from left to right, red, white and dark blue.

Suspension: By a plain straight suspender.

This rhodium plated medal was awarded to troops who formed part of the international peacekeeping force sent to Rhodesia between December, 1979, and March, 1980, to help maintain law and order during the elections and independence ceremonies.

A total of seventy four medals were issued to New Zealand troops.
