THE UNITED NATIONS KOREA MEDAL

Obverse: The United Nations emblem of a polar projection map of the world encircled by two olive branches of peace.

Reverse: Plain, except for the legend "FOR SERVICE IN DEFENCE OF THE PRINCIPLES OF THE CHARTER OF THE UNITED NATIONS" in five lines.

Size: 36mm in diameter.

Ribbon: 35mm wide, with nine blue and eight white alternating stripes of equal width.

Suspension: By a plain, straight, non-swivelling suspender bar, attached to the top of which is a bar bearing the legend "KOREA".

The qualifications for the award of this bronze medal were;
For all the Services the qualifying period was one day, except for visits of inspection that, either continuous or in aggregate, had to total thirty days.

Certain civilians whose organisations were certified by the Commander-in-Chief as having supported military operations were also eligible.

International Red Cross personnel engaged for service under the United Nations Commander-in-Chief with any United Nations relief team in Korea were not eligible for this medal.
