THE NEW ZEALAND EFFICIENCY MEDAL

Obverse: A effigy of the Sovereign.

Reverse: Plain, with the legend "FOR EFFICIENT SERVICE".

Size: 32mm wide, 38mm top to bottom.

Ribbon: 32mm wide, the ribbon is green with 4mm yellow stripes at each edge.

Suspension: By an ornate non-swivelling bar, across which is a scroll with the legend "NEW ZEALAND".

The award of the New Zealand Efficiency Medal was instituted on 14th August 2020. It is awarded for long service and good conduct by non-commissioned officers and other ranks of the New Zealand Army Territorial Force upon completion of fourteen years' service. Clasps may be awarded for each additional six years' service. Clasps are oblong in shape and bear a Royal Crown.

Where a clasp is awarded, the first three clasps shall be in silver. Where a fourth clasp is conferred, the silver clasps shall be replaced by a single gilt clasp. An additional gilt clasp shall be worn for each subsequent clasp conferred.

The long service and good conduct of soldiers of the Territorial Force had formerly been recognised by the conferral of the British Efficiency Medal under a Warrants dated 23rd September 1930, 1st February 1940, 26th August 1944, 4th April 1946 and 10th May 1946, and regulations dated 23rd March 1966.

The New Zealand Defence Force Long Service Award Regulations, 2020, specify the period of time a person must serve to be eligible for the award, and the period of time a person must serve to be eligible for the award of each additional clasp.
