THE NEW ZEALAND GENERAL SERVICE MEDAL (IRAQ 2015)

Obverse: A representation of the effigy of the Sovereign.

Reverse: The inscription "THE NEW ZEALAND GENERAL SERVICE MEDAL" within a wreath of New Zealand flora (fern fronds, pohutukawa, and kowhai blossom) ensigned by a Royal Crown.

Size: 36mm in diameter and in silver.

Ribbon: The ribbon is 32 mm in width, of yellow, with narrow green, white, and red stripes on either side.

Suspension: By a plain straight suspender.

Instituted on 14 July 2016, this silver medal was awarded to members of the New Zealand Armed Forces, New Zealand Police and New Zealand civilians who served in the operational area on or after 4 November 2014 as a member of, or in connection with, a New Zealand Government deployment to build the capacity of the Iraqi Security Forces.

The ribbon colours symbolise sand (yellow), the flora (green) with white symbolising peace and truth, and the traditional military colour of red.
